Boise State Summer Sessions

Students who take summer classes are more likely to graduate on time, and (in news that makes parents everywhere happy) tuition rates for summer classes are significantly less than fall or spring semesters. But how do you convince the “No more pencils, no more books!” crowd to stay in school over the summer? With more than 20 distinct advertising pieces, including posters, emails, and postcards that reveal the benefits of summer school. Around 75% of Boise State grads have taken at least one summer class, so it must be working.

My job:  Work with the director of Summer Sessions to develop a campaign idea each year, and then design all the assets for the marketing campaign, including postcards, banners, posters, e-newsletters, and web ads.

Challenges: Photoshopping a graduation cap on Buster Bronco’s mane, and dreaming of summer while producing campaign assets in the middle of January.

Perks: Brainstorming with the Summer Sessions director to come up with ideas and catchphrases for each summer’s campaign.
